Infrastructure is all around us, which is precisely why it’s so hard to see. But architect and urbanist Keller Easterling wants to try and make it visible, exposing not just the objects that comprise our cities and world, but the ways they relate to one another, the ways they exist in a matrix of rules and relationships that regulate our lives. Infrastructure is not just pipes and wires and highways and traffic lights, but formulas for space, operating systems for power in the physical world that hide in the in-betweenness of our object-oriented fixations. We’re the chocolate chips and infrastructure is the batter in this world, and you can’t make a good cookie from bad dough.
